Wire or plastic base aging

If your loose wire or plastic base is broken, there is a risk that you may be injured by sharp edges or irritating the surrounding tissue. You can create short-term remedies using a nail file to smooth the edges. In any case, please make an appointment in your orthodontist Brand Orthodontics Mainz, so that we can repair your braces. If you are able to wear your brace despite the damage, please do so in the sense of a consequent orthodontic treatment until your emergency appointment with us.

Removal clasp disturb

In case of irritation or an unpleasant feeling of pressure on the gum, please make an emergency appointment with us. So, we can help the fast remedy to prevent further irritation.

Loss of removable clip

If you have lost your removable clip, please contact us immediately so that we can ensure your continued continuous orthodontic treatment. This is of great importance for the success of the treatment, as this allows us to react quickly and avoid complications or relapses.

Irritated lips or cheeks

Disturbing spots on your fixed clip can be the cause of irritation of the lips or cheeks. In this case, we would ask you to cover these areas with the silicone protection wax, which you have received from us during the installation of the apparatus. If the irritation persists anyway, please make an emergency appointment in your orthodontist Brand Orthodontics Mainz.

Disturbing bow ends of the fixed clasp

There are various emergency tricks for disturbing arching of your arresting apparatus. On the one hand, you can cover these areas with silicone protection wax or a small piece of sugar-free chewing gum. On the other hand, you can bend the interfering ends with the aid of a spoon or the eraser tip of a pencil.Thirdly, if you are confident, you could cut the affected segment of your clasp with a small nail tong. However, these are temporary solutions. Therefore, we would like to ask you to arrange a repair appointment with us as soon as possible.

Bracket or ligament of the apparatus has come loose

If the loose bracket or ligament is still connected to the wire arch of your fixed appliance, please promptly contact us for an emergency appointment and leave it until we have fixed it. If the band of your braces has loosened from the tooth, you can push it back. Nevertheless, we would like to ask you to arrange a repair appointment in your orthodontics Brand Orthodontics Mainz.

If the tape has completely loosened, you should carefully remove it and arrange a short-term date for reattaching with us. Until then, keep the metal ring secure.

Wire arch has come loose

If the wire arch has loosened, you can carefully push it back into the appropriate bracket or band with a pair of tweezers. If this is not possible, please make an immediate appointment with your orthodontist Mainz so that we can repair your clasp. In the meantime, use some silicone wax to prevent irritation from the arch end.

Bracket flaps are open

Open bracket flaps mean that the tooth and arch wire are no longer optimally connected to each other. This could cause the tooth to return to its initial position. To avoid this, please make an appointment with your orthodontist Mainz. In the meantime, you can try to push the arc back into the bracket and close the flap.

Gum infections

In most cases, gum disease is not caused by irritation due to a defective clasp, but is triggered by bacteria. The most effective measure against gum infections is therefore frequent and regular brushing, also in combination with disinfecting mouthwashes. If your gum disease persists, please make an appointment with us or your treating dentist.

Sores

In the case of a loose clip, you have the option to take it out at short notice so that possible irritating components do not touch the gum anymore. In any case, please make an emergency appointment with us so that we can repair your braces and continue your orthodontic therapy consistently.

In the case of a fixed clamp, it helps to cover the corresponding silence of the apparatus with silicone protection wax. Nevertheless, we would like to ask you to arrange an appointment with your orthodontics Brand Orthodontics in this case as well.

Pain after insertion of bow or clasp

After the insertion of the clasp or the bow, unfortunately, up to three days of pain can occur in the form of bite problems or a feeling of pressure and tension. To relieve the pain, cool the affected area with ice cubes or use a painkiller in case of severe pain. Preventively, we would like to ask you to avoid solid food in the first days after the insertion of the clasp and to protect your teeth. If there is no improvement after this period, please make a short-term emergency appointment with us.
